Accounting (MUF0021 & MUF0022)

Accounting is the process of recording and reporting financial data, and plays an important role in the successful  operation and management of any business. In order to be able to meet the requirements of these processes,  accountants will need to be problem solvers, critical thinkers, communicators and organised individuals.

Biology(MUF0031 & MUF0032)

Biology is the study of living things, their structures and functions. The study of biology provides the student with  an understanding of the natural world and the role that humans play within it. It also provides the student with a  scientific framework upon which to build hypotheses and design valid, controlled experiments.

Chemistry (MUF0041 & MUF0042)

Chemistry provides insights into natural phenomena at the molecular level, a framework of knowledge for the  development of new materials and the means for the attainment of a sustainable environment for the future. The  use of the language and symbols of chemistry is practiced, and the application of formulae and equations to  explain observations and data collected from experiments is reinforced.

Economics (MUF0061 & MUF0062)

Economics is the study of making choices. It involves analysing economic decision making about how limited  resources are allocated to produce goods and services to satisfy people’s unlimited needs and wants. The study  of economics is critical to understanding why individuals, firms and societies behave as they do. When you learn  to think like an economist, you will view life differently and make more effective decisions.

English (MUF0011 & MUF0012)

English develops your language, research, organisational, and study skills to prepare you for tertiary education in  Australia. You will learn how to speak confidently, listen, understand and analyse ideas, and become a strong  reader and writer of Academic English.

Fundamental Mathematics (MUF0141 & MUF0142)

This course has been designed to cater for students who plan to develop strong numeracy skills across areas of  mathematics that have links to tertiary studies with a ‘business’ focus or to studies in other areas where strength  in numeracy opens up a range of opportunities.

Global Studies (MUF0131)

Global Studies helps you understand the economic, political and cultural links that connect people and countries  around the world.

Information & Communication Technology (MUF0051 & MUF0052)

This course is designed to familiarise students with the fundamental terminology, components, and uses for  computers and computer systems. Includes computer hardware, software, operating systems, specific business  applications such as word processors and spreadsheets, and the design, development and testing steps  associated with problem-solving techniques used for programming.

Mathematics (MUF0091 & MUF0092)

This unit provides a range of knowledge, essential skills and methods to equip students for tertiary study. The subject offers:

  • Functions and their graphs and inverse functions.
  • Exponential, logarithmic and circular functions.
  • Techniques and applications of calculus.
  • Sequences and series.
  • Probability and probability distributions.
  • Statistics.

Advanced Mathematics (MUF0101 & MUF0102)

This subject aims to provide lifelong transferrable mathematical skills by applying higher order thinking skills and  exploring sophisticated ideas for real-world application. Students will learn to explain and link essential  mathematical concepts by applying mathematical techniques. This will give students the opportunity to develop  their literacy and ways of critical and creative thinking through mathematical discourse.
