Overview

A Monash College Diploma of Engineering provides a pathway into the second year of a Monash University engineering or information technology (IT) degree. * In Diploma of Engineering Part 2, you will have the option to choose a specialisation or stream:

  • • Engineering
  • • IT

The stream you choose will depend on whether you want to study engineering or IT at university. You will study subjects such as Applied Mathematics, Computing for Engineers, Data Management, and Computers and Networks.

  • • Minimum 16 years of Age for Part 1 and 17 years of Age for part 2 (If you do not meet the age requirements, you may be offered a deferred place)

Programme Structure

Diploma in Information Technology Part 2 consists of two trimesters over 8 months. For each trimester you can choose two electives depending on your interests and the degree you wish to apply for.

*Mathematics for Engineering is a compulsory unit for Diploma of Engineering (IT stream) students wishing to enrol in the Bachelor of Computer Science.
**Business Statistics is a compulsory unit for Diploma of Engineering (IT stream) students wishing to enrol in the Bachelor of Information Technology.


Delivery Method

The programme is taught face-to-face through lectures and tutorials.


Assessments and Examinations

Assessment includes essays, reports, regular tests and a final exam.
